Election Commission of India to announce dates for Lok Sabha Polls

The Election Commission of India will announce the Schedule for the General Elections to Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies 2024 on March 16, 2024 (Saturday) at 3 PM onwards.

As far as the state of Meghalaya is concerned, campaigns for the Lok Sabha are intensifying as candidates from various parties seek to garner support. Among them are Ampareen Lyngdoh from the National People’s Party (NPP), Ricky Syngkon from the Voice of the People Party (VPP) and Robertjune Kharjahrin from the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Meanwhile, the Congress and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in Meghalaya will contest independently. Vincent H Pala, the sitting MP from Congress, is all set to contest for his fourth term from the Shillong Parliamentary seat, while Saleng A Sangma will represent Tura.

The opposition AITC recently announced Zenith M Sangma, a former legislator from Rangsakona, as its candidate from Tura.
