Engineer electrocuted at Lakroh Mini Hydel Project
Eddy Kerry Pohtam, the engineer in charge of the Lakroh Mini Hydel Project, was electrocuted on August 19 while inspecting the strong room at around 7 am.
Due to the absence of a proper road, Eddy’s transportation to the main road was delayed. BSF troops eventually provided an ambulance, but upon reaching Pdengshakap, no doctor was available for treatment.
Eddy was subsequently taken to Bethany Hospital in Shillong, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Eddy’s uncle, Lop Pohtam, criticized MeECL/MePGCL for poor road conditions and demanded immediate improvements to prevent future incidents.
The Lakroh Mini Hydel Project, costing Rs 21.43 crore, has been generating 1.5 Megawatts of electricity since 2019.
