Enquiry confirmed shortage of 1000 kg of PDS rice supplied by wholesaler to Pamrakamai’s FPS
The alertness of Pamrakamai’s village fair price shop in East Jaintia Hills District is worth appreciated as they detected a shortage of over ten quintals of rice supplied by a wholesaler under the Public Distribution System.
Taking strong note over the matter, the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District directed Food & Civil Supplies Sub Inspector EV Pariat for conducting a thorough inquiry into the shortage of rice supplied against the actual quantity to be supplied.
Pariat conducted the enquiry on Tuesday where the weighing of PDS Rice allotted to the FPS Centre was done in presence of the Wholesaler concerned and the Secretary of the Vigilance Committee. Each and every bag of Rice was weighed.
After weighing all the 107 bags of PDS Rice delivered by the wholesaler to the FPS centre, it was found that the total weight is 43 Qtls 01 Kg and 845 gms whereas the total allotment is 53.68 Qtls which shows that there is a shortage of 10 qtls 66 kgs and 155 gms.
Pariat in her report suggested, “We may perhaps instruct the wholesaler concerned to deliver the shortage quantity of Rice to the said FPS Centre at the earliest,” instead of suggesting any legal action.
