Eugeneson says his priority is to serve people of Mawphlang
Newly elected UDP legislator from Mawphlang Eugeneson Lyngdoh on Tuesday said his top priority would be to serve the people of the constituency to the best of his abilities.
Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh also assured to complete all the pending works his father has left behind.
He retained the seat by defeating his closest rival Congress nominee Kennedy C Khyriem with a margin of over 4,401 votes. His father (L) SK Sunn, the former MLA of Mawphlang passed away on September 10.
The football star turned politician said that there are many road projects in the constituency that he wanted to complete before the term ends.
He admitted that one year is a very short time to really fulfill the people’s aspirations.
When asked, Lyngdoh attributed his victory to the love of the people for his father’s work.
“Due to this, the people had come to my house and encouraged me to follow up the work which my father had left behind,” he said while thanking the people for giving him the opportunity to complete his task.
On the other hand, the newly elected MLA said that football in Meghalaya has grown over the past years.
“I am sure it will grow in the future as well as it is a sport that we all love here and it is a sport that every kids dreams to play and make a career out of it,” he asserted.
