In another massive joining program, many eminent high-ranking retired government officials, teachers, social workers, ex-MLA from BJP, and AJYCP leaders joined the Congress.
Prominent people who joined Congress today are Brajenjit Singha, IPS (retd), Dilip Moran, ex-BJP MLA, Manoj Kumar Lahkar, APS (retd), Rafikul Islam, DTO (retd), Rumi Buragohain, teacher(retd), Jitu Choudhary, AJYCP, Nilamoni Changmai, AJYCP, Dhirendra Narayan Dev, Police Inspector(retd) to name a few.
Borah said it is evident from the speeches of people who joined Congress that the current BJP has failed on many fronts and it doesn’t have any moral right to continue in power. All the promises made during election time by the BJP turned out to be a big hoax. The current situation faced by the people during floods in the state and especially in Guwahati has proved that the current Govt is highly incompetent and incapable. The people of Assam have decided that this BJP Govt should go in 2026 and they want more competent and efficient Govt. BJP is causing serious damage to the social fabric of Assam by doing divisive communal politics of Hindu-Muslim but instead of helping the future generation of the state, it will disintegrate the social fabric of the state.
“Today is the anniversary of the Quit India Movement and the people of Assam have taken the resolve today to Quit BJP misrule,” Borah added.
Bora spoke on the Quit India Movement with special reference to leaders of Assam who were involved in the Quit India Movement.
In his address, Gaurav Gogoi thanked the current Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking all unwanted Congressmen into BJP and letting all good BJP leaders leave them and join Congress.
Debabrata Saikia mentioned that this is just the start and many more such honest and selfless people would join INC in future.
