Eye screening camp to detect diabetic retinopathy held to observe World Sight Day
World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. The theme for this year’s World Sight Day 2021 is ‘Love your eyes’.
On the occasion of World Sight Day, Bansara Eye Care Centre conducted a Free Diabetes screening & Diabetic Retinopathy screening in collaboration with their partners – Society for Promotion of Eye Care and Sight (SPECS), Indian Medical Association (IMA) and All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS).
Many patients who were in need of diabetic screening visited the premises of Bansara Eye Care Centre at Laitumkhrah and its vision centers located at Jowai, Nongpoh & Mairang to undergo free diabetes and diabetic retinopathy screening. To raise awareness about diabetes, pamphlets and brochures containing information about diabetes and diabetic retinopathy were distributed to people visiting the Hospital.
Similar programme were held at Smit, Mawkhar, Mawsynram, Mawkyrwat, Nongpoh, Mairang, Nongstoin, Khliehriat and Jowai with support from its collaborating partners. Bansara Eye Care Centre also conducted a free eye screening camp in collaboration with Mawlai Phudmuri District held at Mawlai Motsyiar for the people of Mawlai and its adjoining areas.
