Female voters outnumbered male voters by over 6000 in West Jaintia Hills
There are 6398 more female voters than their male counterpart in West Jaintia Hills District according to the final electoral rolls published as on 1st January this month.
According to the Final Electoral Roll of the five Constituencies, there are 2,00,602 voters out of which include 97,102 male voters and 1,03,500 female voters.
The Constituency break up of voters are as follows under 1- Nartiang (ST) there are a total of 44,337 out of which include 21,821 male voters and 22,516 female voter, in 2- Jowai (ST) there are 40,208 voters which include 18,954 male voters and 21,254 female voters, 3- Raliang (ST) total number of voters 38,804 which include 18,490 male voters and 20,314 female voter, in 4- Mowkaiaw (ST) there are a total of 38,563 voters which include 19,007 male voters and 19,556 female voters and in 7- Amlarem (ST) there are a total of 38,690 which include 18,830 male voters and 19,860 female voters
Meanwhile, District Election Officer B S Sohliya, IAS held a meeting with the representatives of Political parties which comprised of BJP, AITMC, NPP and handed over the copies of Final Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2023 as the qualifying date on Thursday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner P.K Boro, M.A Challam, D.D Syngai, B.Blah and Extra Assistant Commissioner W.K Kharbuli.
Briefing the representatives, the District Election Officer called for cooperation from all the political parties so as to have a free and fair upcoming Assembly Election.
In the PowerPoint presentation, Challam briefed the political parties about the Model Code of Conduct and it is enforced from the date of announcement of election schedule and is operational till the process of elections are completed.
Later discussion was also held relating to the forthcoming Legislative Assembly 2023.
