Filmmaker Bhaskar Kiran Bora launches Assamese book ‘Jaiñtia Pahar’
A book titled “Jaiñtia Pahar,” an Assamese book written by Assam-based filmmaker Bhaskar Kiran Bora, was released by the Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, on July 10 at his office.
The book is based on Bhaskar’s experiences during his two-decade visits to the Jaiñtia Hills, focusing on the Pnar people, their culture, the Niamtre religion, and their history.
Before the book’s release, a short meeting was held where Bhaskar shared how he was captivated by the culture of the Pnar people 20 years ago when he attended the annual Behdieñkhlam Festival. Since then, he has visited the Jaiñtia Hills multiple times to learn more about the people and their culture.
Bhaskar also mentioned that his wife, Priyam Bora, encouraged him to write the book, and he plans to translate it into English.
While congratulating Bhaskar on his achievement, Puramon Kynjing expressed his hope that people from Assam and Assamese readers will learn more about the Pnar culture and their history through the book.
