First retired IPS officer to be appointed as CIC of Meghalaya
A day after his superannuation from the Meghalaya Police, Heimonlang Nongpluh became the first retired IPS officer to be appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner of Meghalaya.
In pursuance of the provisions of Section 15(3) of the Right to Information Act 2005 the Governor of Meghalaya appointed Heimonlang Nongpluh, IPS as state Chief Information commissioner, Meghalaya. Nongpluh will exercise the powers conferred on, and to perform the functions assigned to him under the Act, with effect from the date of joining for a period as specified in the Right to Information Act, 2005.
Further, as per Rule 13 of The Right to Information (Term of Office, Salaries, Allowances and Other Terms and Conditions of Service of Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commissioners in the central Information Commission, State Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners in the State Information Commission) Rules, 2019.
Meanwhile,a befitting Farewell Parade was organized at 6th MLP Bn., Umran in Honor of H. Nongpluh, IPS, Addl. DGP, (SB/CID) on Wednesday for his glorious and illustrious service, rendered to Meghalaya Police.
