First time JHADC got a chairman who is literate and highly educated: EM
In what could be termed as degradation of past chairman of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), executive member Winning G Sungoh said this is the first time that the council got a chairman who is literate and highly educated.
Sungoh was felicitating Bataw Lakadong MDC Dr Sankey Shangpung on his election as Chairman of the JHADC uncontested this morning.
Shangpung’s candidature was put up by the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) comprising of 18 NPP MDC and 7 UDP MDC under the leadership of chief executive member Thombor Shiwat.
The office of chairman of JHADC had fallen vacant consequent upon the resignation of Finelyness Bareh from the office on 30 January 2020.
The governor notified the election of chairman on 27.7.2020 where only Shangpung was only candidate who filed his nomination.

No matter what is his education he still has to deal everything among the illiterate members. The most important is for we the people to take a memorable note to choose the educated candidates where we can expect good things to come in the next plan
