First Veteran Basketball Tournament starts in Shillong

Seven games were held on the first day of the 1st Veteran Basketball Tournament organised East Khasi Hills District Basketball Association (EKHDBA) at St Anthony’s Hr Sec School, Shillong on Monday.

The tournament was inaugurated by Father Anthony, Principal of St Anthony’s Hr Sec School as the chief guest in the presence of guest of honour O Mawthoh District Sports Officer East Khasi Hills Donald Wahlang General Secretary Meghalaya Basketball Association besides others.

Iaineh, Nongrim Hills and Madanriting were victorious in their first games in the Men’s Category and in the Women’s Category Splash and SYM got their first wins too.

The most interesting game of the evening was the game played between Nongrim Hills and Nongstoin Ballers where both the teams fought it out till the last minute. The neck to neck game was concluded as Pleasantly and Sunny Pathaw of Nongrim Hills showed their national experience which led their team to a 4 point game win against the Nongstoin Ballers. John Fisher of the Nongstoin Ballers scored 19 points and fell short in the final seconds of the game.

Women’s Category Results:

SYM (Dari Pathaw 10 pts) bt Promising S.C (P Dkhar 5 pts) 33-10, Splash (B Lyngdoh 6 pts) bt Lawsohtun Marvels 19-2.
