Five drugs traffickers arrested within 48 hours in Jaintia Hills region
Within 48 hours of crackdown against drug traffickers in Jaintia Hills Region, a total of five persons were arrested with sizeable quantities of heroin worth lakhs of rupees were seized from their possession.
The first arrest of three persons was made in Ialong Park, Jowai on Tuesday and heroin weighed 111grams along with one pistol and two vehicles were seized.
The latest arrest was carried out by the police of East Jaintia Hills District on Thursday where two drug traffickers were arrested along with sizable quantity of drugs from their possession after 15 long hours of operation.
Police said acting on input of transportation of contraband from Silchar to Shillong, a joint operation of ANTF and Umtyta anti-Infil CP led by Addl SP Banraplang Jyrwa alongside DSP Jason Myrom was formed to arrest the persons involved in the henious crime.

Police said that they intercepted one Maruti zen vehicle bearing registration number WB 02 P 2867 at Umtyra CP and two accused were thoroughly searched and 6 boxes of suspected contraband ( heroin ) expertly hidden below their garments were recovered from them .
On weight and measurement the total quantity of heroin recovered is 72 gms and in addition to that 17 strips of banned Nitrazapam Tablets have been seized from their possession.

The accused were identified as Heirtami Dkhar aged 29 from Madanpatien Ialong, West Jaintia Hills District and Rajen Pale, 25 yrs from Lumpyrtuh Mihmyntdu, West Jaintia Hills District.
Notably, due to heavy traffic jam at Malidor (Assam side), the team had to continue the operation for almost 15 hours.
