Flood situation remains grim, 1 more dead, 3.90 lakh affected
Severe flooding in Assam has killed one more person in Udalguri and affected 3.90 lakh people across 19 districts of the state, an official bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said here on Friday.
One death case has been reported from Udalguri district. The victim has been identified as Mithun Seal (38), who has been missing since Wednesday. He drowned in the Kalanadi River when he went fishing at Jhar Gaon on Wednesday.
One person was missing in the Barpeta district. He has been identified as Kaziz Shah (7) son of Shahadat Ali Ahmed of Rangia Gaon under Sarthebari police station.
Altogether 3.90,4911 people from 325 villages under 50 revenue circles in 19 districts were affected by the deluge, the ASDMSA bulletin said.
The affected districts are- Kamrup, Tamulpur, Hailakandi, Udalguri, Hojai, Dhubri, Barpeta, Biswanath, Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Baksa, Karimganj, South Salmara, Goalpara, Darrang, Bajali, Nagaon, Cachar and Kamrup (M).
The Kopili is flowing above the danger level mark at Kampurand Dharamtul in Nagaon district, Barak at BP Ghat in Cachar and Kushiyara is flowing above the danger level mark in Karimganj.
Karimganj is the worst affected district with 2,40,477 population affected from 280 villages under Nilambazar, Badarpur, Karimganj, Patherkandi and RK Nagar revenue circles.
61,389 people have been affected in Darrang district from 105 villages under Dalgaon, Patharighat, Sipajhar, Pub-Mangaldai and Mangaldoi revenue circles.
The flood water submerged 4347.86 hectares of cropland besides damaging roads, and bridges and disrupting road communication in several places of the state.
120 relief camps and 125 relief distribution centres have been opened for the affected people.
15,160 inmates have been sheltered in the relief camps while 1,71,864 noncamp inmates are receiving food and other essential items from these centres.
25 pucca houses were completely damaged and 491 houses were partially damaged by the floods. 4,21,710 animals were affected by the floods.
2982.02 quintals of rice, 554.52 quintals of dal, 172.23 quintals of salt and 16398.44 litres of mustard oil have been distributed among the affected people.
