Former MSOA general secretary Chiranjib Choudhri passed away
Chiranjib Choudhri, former general secretary of the Meghalaya State Olympics Association (MSOA), passed away at his residence in Hatath Colony, Shillong on Wednesday morning.
The MSOA expressed shock and sadness at the sudden demise of Chiranjib Choudhri, who served as the general secretary of MSOA from 2015 to 2022, MSOA general secretary Finely Pariat said in a statement issued here.
To pay tribute to Chiranjib Choudhri, a condolence meeting was held at the MSOA office at 12 noon on the same day. A one-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for the departed soul. Later, John F Kharshiing, Ian Lyngdoh, and other members of MSOA visited his residence and presented a condolence message and a wreath to the bereaved family.
Chiranjib Choudhri was a well-known sports organizer and a respected sports administrator in Meghalaya. He had previously served as the Secretary of the Table Tennis Association of Meghalaya. During his tenure, under his capable leadership, Shillong successfully hosted several All India level Table Tennis Championships in various categories. He was also associated with the Meghalaya Olympic Association and the All India Table Tennis Federation of India.
The untimely demise of Chiranjib Choudhri has left a void in the sports arena of Meghalaya and India at large, MSOA statement said.
