Four arrrested with over 600 kgs of explosives in East Jaintia Hills
In a major breakthrough against illegal possession of explosives, East Jaintia Hills District arrested four persons along with huge consignment of Gelatin sticks and detonators from Jalaphet Bri Sumer area on Monday.
Police said that they received information three that (3) to four(4) youths were roaming suspiciously at the jungle areas of Jalaphet Bri-Sumer carrying large number of carton boxes.
Police informed a joint raid operation was conducted at the jungle of Jalaphet Bri-Sumer under the leadership of B. Jyrwa, MPS, Addl. Superintendent of Police, SI. K. Pdahkasiej, In-charge Umpleng AD Camp and SI. B. Marbaniang of Saipung PS along with armed personnel.
Police said during the late night raid at the nearby jungle, one cowshed was spotted at the jungle and four (4) youth were seen to be sleeping inside the shed.
Police said they wake them up and on inspection of the cowshed, multiple numbers of carton boxes were found.
On opening the carton boxes, police said it was found that the boxes contained gelatin sticks.
On proper checking, 26 carton boxes containing Gelatin sticks approximately 650 Kgs and Detonators approximately 200 numbers. Four (4) Mobile phones belonging to them were seized.
The accused are Point Chyrmang (30 yrs) R/o Jalaphet Bri-Sumer Urchuni, Nikalai Chyrmang (21 yrs),R/o Jalaphet Bri-Sumer Urchuni, Mij Chyrmang (22 yrs), R/o Jalaphet Bri-Sumer, 7-Kilo and Shanbor Chyrmang (22 yrs),R/o Jalaphet Bri-Sumer Urchuni.
Police informed case vide vide Saipung PS Case No. 2(1)2023 u/s 120B IPC R/W Sec 5 ES Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
