Four persons arrested with over 12 kgs ganja
JOWAI: In a major crackdown, Jowai police today arrested four persons involved in supply of ganja and recovered a considerable amounts of ganja from their possession.
According to police, this morning at 01:00 a.m based on information from our counterparts one Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number MZ01T2502 was being used for transportation of ganja.
Police team were deployed at Jowai Bypass by police on naka/mobile checking duty for intercepting the said vehicle.
On spotting the Scorpio police team intercepted the vehicle and it was boarded by four persons namely R.C Lalrenfela, Samuel Vanlalpekhkua, K Zothantluanga (owner of the vehicle) & Deepak Gharty all from Mizoram.
On questioning, they informed the police that they were coming from Shillong and heading towards Mizoram.
During the checking of the vehicle, police recovered ganja from the vehicle.
Adhering to the procedure laid down under the provisions of NDPS Act, one vehicle was seized, one mobile phone and 11 packets of ganja weighing 12.192 kgs was seized in the presence of independent witnesses and a gazetted police officer.
Independent witness witnessed the recovery and seizure of seized articles. Investigation into this case is going on now. The arrested will be forwarded to the honble court for further interrogation and investigation.
The four persons namely Samuel Vanlalpekhlua (21 year), Deepak Gharty (21 year), K Lothantluanga (26 year) and RC Lalrinfela (24 year) belonged to Bawngkawn Aizawl Mizoram.
