Four persons sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for kidnapping

Four persons were convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10000 for their involvement in kidnapping case in South West Garo Hills District.

Police said on 17th July 2020 they received report that Md. Abdur Rahim, S/o Kamaluddin Sk of Bagicha, PO & PS Mahendraganj, South West Garo Hills Meghalaya who was working at Rongsang Abagre Construction Site under Betasing Out Post went missing from the place of his work.

Police informed a case vide Ampati PS Case No. 24(07)2020 U/S 364A/34 IPC was registered and endorsed to SI Gaurav B. Koch Incharge Betasing Out Post for investigation.

During the course of investigation, 4 (four) persons namely Tangbath R. Sangma, Lahen Ch. Marak, Rengan Ch. Marak and Chensbath A. Sangma were arrested in connection with the case. and the victim was rescued safely.

The case has been Charge Sheeted vide Ampati PS Charge Sheet No. 13/2020 Dated 23/09/2020 by the investigating Officer SI Gaurav B. Koch.

The District & Session Judge, South West Garo Hills, Ampati vide Judgment Order dated 21/09/2022 convicted the 4 (four) arrested accused persons and sentenced to undergo 2 years simple imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000 rupees ten thousand) only, and, in default, to suffer an additional S.I. for 1 (one) month for the offence u/s 365/34 IPC”.
