FR Kharkongor felicitates winners of competition under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
As part of India@75 “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya in collaboration with Meghalaya Model United Nations today held an award ceremony for winners of different state level competitions organised virtually by the Meghalaya Model United Nations, at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong. FR Kharkongor, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Arts & Culture graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
It may be mentioned that there were a total of 562 participants from 11 districts of the state who had participated in 9 different competitions; Fancy Dress, Debate, Art, Feature Writing, 3D Illustration, Time Capsule, Poster Design, Quiz and Photography.
Speaking on the occasion, F R Kharkongor appreciated the efforts of the Meghalaya Model United Nation in organising these virtual competitions amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the Meghalaya MUN had acted as front liners in providing platforms and engaging the youth of the state in expressing their creativities and talents, he added.
Congratulating the winners of the various competitions, he stated that all competitions regardless of the result act as a learning experience for all the participants. He encouraged all the participants in striving for better future results and to continue with their learning process for the betterment of the state and the country as a whole.
Kharkongor stated that these competitions are a befitting celebration in line with the 75 years of India’s Independence and also with the 50th anniversary of Meghalaya Statehood.
Others who were present include Swami Hitakamananda Ji Maharaja, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Shillong, Meshuwa Kupar Mawthoh, President, Meghalaya Model United Nations, Ritwick Bhuyan, Executive Director, Meghalaya Model United Nation and Cathreenia Nongkynrih, Secretary General, Meghalaya Model United Nations.
