Games village to be constructed at Umsawli
The state Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Sports and Youth Affairs department for taking over of 64.34 acres of land at Umsawli for preparation of the 39th National Games.
After the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters the 64.34 acres of land at Umsawli under the New Shillong Township belongs to the Urban Affairs Department and General Administration Department (GAD).
“Based on the request of the Sports and Youth Affairs, we have approved the proposal for taking possession of the land,” he said.
Asked, the Deputy CM informed that the land will be utilized for the construction of the game village. He said earlier, 50 acres of land was already handed over to the sports department for construction of the main stadium.
