GHADC employees to continue ‘stop work’ agitation till EC clears 34-month pending salary: NGEA
The Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council has reiterated its decision not to accept the five-month salary in old scale.
“We have decided not to accept the five month salary in old scale,” NGEA joint secretary Flaming B Marak said in a statement issued on Friday.
He alleged that the new executive committee is forcing them to take the five month salary and had passed an order in this regard.
“(However) we beg to state that let EC pay the five month salary but none of the employees are going to resume for duty unless the 34-month salary is cleared to us at once,” he added.
The NGEA has also asked the GHADC chief executive member Benedict Marak to display in public the list of employees who are willing to accept the five-month salary.
“…more than 30 employee had died due to non-payment of salaries so we cannot remain silent as everything has its limit. We have been so patient and silence for more three years and one who gone through the suffering will only be able to express the true reality,” Marak said.
“…employees from education department, MeECL department and other departments…will agitate if their salary is not paid for two to three month or for maximum 9 month but we had stated our agitation was only after suffering for more three years. What will happen to CEM if his salary is not paid for more than 8 to 9 months? If he experience like us without salary for three years than he will be able to understand the definition of non-receiving of salary for more than 34 months,” he added.
The NGEA has also demanded the CEM to name the politicians and political parties whom he alleged the employees have approached and playing politics
“We ask CEM who are the politicians and which political party is instigating us to abstain from our work/duties,” Marak said.
Meanwhile, the NGEA leader also alleged the Secretary of GHADC Rikse R Marak was still functioning as the secretary and using the council’s vehicle even after she had tendered her resignation on May 10.
“Rikse R Marak had tender her resignation on 10th may 2021, but surprisingly it is learned that she is still working as Secretary of GHADC and she is still using the GHADC Vehicles vide Bearing Registration No.ML08G3051 and now it’s been more than two weeks from her resignation that she should handover the property of GHADC and continuously allowing her enjoy the property of GHADC is not acceptable as she is no holding the post Secretary of GHADC,” he said.
