GHADC polls: no violation of model code of conduct so far
There has been no violation against the model code of conduct ahead of the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, slated to be held on April 12.
“As of now nothing has come to my knowledge,” District Council Affairs Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters on Tuesday.
He however said the returning officers are there to oversee and ensure there is no violation against the model code of conduct by any political parties or individuals.
When asked about the preparation for the elections in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in Garo Hills, the minister said protocols have been issued and if there is a need, they will be reviewed depending upon the situation.
He said the district administrations of the five districts of Garo Hills region will recommend to the government for necessary action as per situation.
