Global cardiology experts chart roadmap for world-class heart care at PIMC
In a significant move to elevate cardiology services in Northeast India, three internationally acclaimed cardiologists visited the PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC) on Saturday. Their visit focused on providing strategic insights and expert recommendations for the development of a state-of-the-art cardiac care centre at the institution.
The esteemed specialists included Dr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Interventional Cardiology & Structural Heart Disease, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi; Dr. M.U. Rabbani, Eminent Cardiologist and Former Dean, Faculty of Medicine, JN Medical College, AMU and Dr. N.D. Azam Haseen, Professor & Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, JN Medical College, AMU.
During their visit, the experts toured the Super Speciality Block, assessed the existing infrastructure, and held high-level discussions with faculty and doctors on enhancing cardiac services. Their recommendations are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping PIMC’s vision for advanced cardiac care.
USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque welcomed the visit, emphasizing that their guidance would be instrumental in establishing a world-class cardiology centre at PIMC.
A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the first batch of MBBS students, where the cardiologists shared their knowledge and experiences.
Dr. Subhash Chandra stressed the importance of personal well-being, resilience, and communication skills in medical practice. “A successful doctor must first be a healthy individual. Never let failures discourage you—embrace them as learning experiences. Effective communication can ease half of a patient’s suffering. Above all, strive to be a compassionate human being, as patients often see doctors as next to God.”
Dr. M.U. Rabbani underscored the rapid advancements in medical technology while reinforcing the fundamental doctor-patient relationship. “Despite technological progress, medicine remains an art that thrives on trust. Never forget the human element in healthcare.”

Dr. N.D. Azam Haseen described medicine as a way of life, urging students to be sincere, passionate, and technologically adept in their practice. “Dedication and innovation go hand in hand in modern healthcare.”
The visiting cardiologists also outlined their vision for developing a cutting-edge cardiology unit at PIMC, offering strategic insights on infrastructure, technology, and best practices. Engaging with faculty and doctors, they exchanged ideas on creating a premier heart care facility that will cater to the growing healthcare needs of the region.

With expert guidance and strategic planning, PIMC is poised to emerge as a leading cardiac care destination in the Northeast, setting new benchmarks in medical excellence.
