Glorina Shadap from Assam reunited with family after three years
Another patient has been reunited with her family after being missing for more than three years. She was handed over to her family at Halfway Home, Sabahmuswang in West Jaintia Hills on Wednesday.
The patient, identified as Glorina Martina Shadap Kholar (51), hailed from West Karbi Anglong District of Assam. She was handed over in the presence of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) R Passah, Rolinson Teron, the family members of Glorina Martina Shadap Kholar and John Teron, Glorina’s brother-in-law.
Glorina Shadap was suffering from chronic schizophrenia. She was transferred to Halfway Home Sabahmuswang from NIMHANS, Shillong on August 11, 2023, along with 11 other patients. She had been admitted to NIMHANS on March 7, 2021, via a medical requisition through Mawlai Police Station. According to the police report, she was found loitering around the Mawiong area around 7:00 PM.
During a counselling session in August last year, Glorina Shadap, an inmate of the halfway home, shared that she is from Umswai, Amsohbra Village, which falls under West Karbi Anglong District. She had married twice; her first marriage was to a person named (late) Romin Marak, and after his demise, she married Lenus Malang from the Tiwa Tribe. She said she has three sons. This interaction helped to learn her origin.
Celina Kholar, Glorina’s younger sister, said, “Glorina has been missing since March 2021, and we searched for her everywhere; we thought she had died.” Her son, Nelson Khorar, said, “I am very happy to see my mother.”
It may be mentioned on May 17, the halfway home reunited a patient, Jiratan Bibi, from Kowarpur, Kamapur, Kamrup District, Assam.
