Government to function with 17 departments during lockdown in East Khasi Hills
Meghalaya Government has decided to function only with keys departments during the total lockdown in East Khasi Hills District. The Total Lockdown has been extended till June 7, after there has been no respite from the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
As per the notification issued by Secretary in charge Personnel & A.R (A) department, CVD Diengdoh, IAS said that during the period of lockdown in East Khasi Hills District from 31st May, 2021, only the following departments in the Meghalaya Secretariat shall function at strength to be decided by the Administrative Head (Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Commissioner and Secretary/Secretary):
1. Health and Family Welfare Department
2. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department
3. Chief Minister’s Secretariat
4. Information and Public Relations Department
5. Finance Department
6. Planning Department
7. Revenue and Disaster Management Department
8. Home (Political) Department
9. Home (Police) Department
10. Public Works Department
11. Public Health Engineering Department
12. Transport Department
13. ERTS Department
14. Mining & Geology Department
15. Forest and Environment Department
16. Education Department
17. Power Department
The Directorates/Offices of the Chief Engineers/District Treasuries of the above departments shall also open at strength to be decided by the Administrative Head/Director/Chief Engineer.
All other Departments shall remain closed.
All officers at the rank of Commissioner and Secretary and above of all Departments may attend office on a need basis.
In another order issued by Meghalaya Chief Secretary, MS Rao said that during the period of lockdown in East Khasi Hills District, Central Government offices/establishments may function with limited staff not exceeding 30% strength and strict adherence to all health protocols.
The Central Government / Establishment which will function during the lockdown include North Eastern Council Secretariat, Office of the Accountant General (A&E), Office of the Accountant General (Audit), Office of the Commissioner of Customs and field offices, CGST, Food Corporation of India, Doordarshan Kendra, All India Radio, India Meteorological Department, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Shillong Cantonment Board, IIM Shillong, PAO, CBIC, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization and Reserve Bank of India.
The order stated that the list of staff who are attending office will be shared with the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shillong for issuance of vehicle pass. The order cancels all previous orders/exemptions.
