Govt approves Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases Malaria Regulation 2022
The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the notification of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases Malaria Regulation 2022.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters that as per the National Framework for Malaria Elimination 2016 – 2030 programme, the government of India has mandated that the state should try to eradicate malaria.
Stating that Meghalaya has been a state which has been suffering in the past due to the disease, Sangma however said, “but we have made very positive steps towards controlling the spread of malaria because of numbers of steps but in order to ensure that a very strong framework is created to control the spread of malaria the national framework for malaria elimination has mandated that a regulation and a notification come out to have the malaria has an epidemic disease – This is simple thing it is nothing but to say that any cases of malaria that comes out in any part of the state then proper procedure should be followed to notify it and proper measures should be taken to control it and those measures will not be notified and specified. It is really a framework to ensure that proper attention is given to any case of malaria that comes up in the state with the intention to ensure that it is completely eradicated in the long run.
