Govt approves operation and maintenance policy for JJM

The state Cabinet on Monday approved the Operation and Maintenance Policy and Manual for the rural water supply system under Jal Jeevan Missin (JJM) scheme in Meghalaya.

Addressing media persons after the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “As you are aware that under the central scheme of JJM, thousand of crores worth of infrastructure has been set up in different parts of the state and it is important that in the long run this has to be maintained properly and hence as a requirement from Government of India, it was mandated, then every state must come out with an operation and maintenance policy and manual for the rural water supply scheme under JJM.”

“So we have prepared that and under this there will be 2-3 different sections where the water supply And the overall water tank maintenance will be one section and the distribution lines in specific villages will be different section and it’s a very massive manual,” he added.
