Commenting on the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the need to check on illegal infiltration into the country, Tynsong said, “We already have a meeting with the border security force (BSF) authority and with all the concerned authorities, be it state and central government agencies. We are on the same page and same line. We will make sure that the international boundary is fully secured to meet all these challenges in case any kind of infiltration takes place in whatever manner but we are already in touch and we are fully in operation as far as the international border is concerned.”
“Not only that, we have already worked together very closely with the village authority or VDP including BSF, police and other central agencies whatever possible way and we will ensure that infiltration does not take place,” he added.
The deputy chief minister also referred to news reports and said quite a number of infiltrators have been apprehended, booked and put behind bars as per the Foreigners’ Act.
On the arrest of a man from Umlyngka for making anti-national comments on social media, Tynsong said, “Police have taken swift action because we are really concerned as the statement made by that boy is purely anti-national. It will affect not only Meghalaya but it will affect the whole country and it will especially encourage this illegal activity which will ultimately create a lot of security threat to the citizens of the state as well as citizens of India as a whole. Therefore, we have noted down very seriously on this issue and that is why swift action has been taken.”
“My request to all the citizens of the state and also citizens of the nation as a whole, let us stand united and we will not allow such anti-national activities to happen again throughout the country,” he appealed.
