Govt directs CS to hold meeting with HPC for final decision on relocation issue before end of September: Dhar
The state government has directed the chief secretary to call a final meeting with the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) before the end of September and submit a report on its decision pertaining to the proposal for the relocation of 342 families from Them Iew Mawlong.
Informing this on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar said, “We have instructed the chief secretary to call a meeting with them (HPC) and submit a final report to us and we will take a final call from the government side.”
Dhar said that the HPC has sought for more time citing that they have some more points to discuss with their higher authority.
“Therefore, the government has decided to grant an extension of time for the last time. The chief secretary will call for a meeting in the last week and he will submit a report to the government for its final decision,” he added.
Asked, Dhar said, “We don’t see it as a tactic (to delay the matter) but as a government we want to come to a good conclusion.”
He however maintained that the government has taken a final decision that there will be no more talks on the matter after the meeting to be held during the last week of this month.
