Govt directs NHIDCL to resolve issue related to approach roads in Upper Shillong

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads & Buildings) Prestone Tynsong on Monday said that the National Highways and Infrastructure Develoment Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has been instructed to resolve issues related to approach roads to villages in Upper Shillong.
He was replying to a concern raised by Congress legislator from Mylliem Ronnie V Lyngdoh in the Assembly that because of the alignment for the Shillong-Dawki road project, the approach roads to the villages in Upper Shillong have been affected.
Tynsong while assuring to take necessary action said, “quite a number of portions are facing this problem and we have instructed the NHIDCL to resolve the issue and ensure the approach roads have to be there.”
The deputy chief minister also said the government is aware about the construction issues along the stretches of the Shillong-Dawki Road Project at 4th Mile, 4 1/2 Mile and 6th Mile (Eastern Air Command) in Upper Shillong, which are being impacted by water accumulation due to pipeline leakages that are hindering the progress of the project.
The steps have already been taken to address the pipleline leakages and the issues sorted out as follows: The leakage near Mattilang junction, Tea Garden and before Shillong Peak junction have been plugged, he added.
