Govt extends total lockdown in EKH till June 7
The state government has decided to extended the total lockdown in East Khasi Hills District till June 7, after there has been no respite from the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
“We have decided that lockdown in East Khasi Hills district will continue up to 5 am of June 7,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting held on Friday.
Tynsong however said some relaxation is also put in place as follows:-
- Deputy Commissioner shall make sure that availability of essential commodities in al the localities within EKH on need basis
- Home delivery services are permitted subject to permission and regulation tobe issued by the DC of EKH
- Inter district movement of persons from and to EKH shall be restricted.
- All central govt offices other than those already notified by personnel dept shall remain closed
- All state govt offices other than those notified by personnel dept shall remain closed
- State Bank of India main branch, Laitumkhrah and Secretariat shall function with limited staff for purpose of govt trans
- All other banks are permitted to open on May 31 and June 1 with limited staff for the purpose of urgent transaction only and they shall close by 4pm
- All post offices are permitted to open on June 2, 3 and 4 with limited staff
- e-Commerce activities and courier services are permitted subjected to regulation by the DC
- Hardware stores are permitted to open on need basis with prior permission of the DC
- In situ constructuion work for govt prjects that does not involve movement of labourers are permitted with due intimation and in situ of private projects and construction works that does not involve movement of laboouers are permitted subjected to regulation of DC
- Funeral gathering to be restricted to 10 persons with prior permission from DC.
