Govt introduces new rule for home delivery of liquor
The state Cabinet has approved the proposal for issuing of licenses to wine shops for home delivery of liquor.
After the meeting held on Friday, MDA government spokesperson, James K Sangma said the government has decided to introduce a new rule under the Meghalaya Excise Rules on license for home delivery of liquor by wine shops.
Asked, Sangma informed that the order for home delivery shall not exceed 3 litres of foreign liquors or wine and 4 litres of beer per customer per order.
“Secondly, the licensee shall submit the list of delivery details showing names, residential proofs and others to the deputy commissioner…,” he said.
The minister said the customer must declare that he/she is 20 years and above supported by documents issued by the competent authority. Any wrong declaration of age will attract penal action as per law, he added.
