Govt issues advisory to people under home quarantine
India there are already over 20,000 cases of COVID-19, which has claimed 645 lives and in Meghalaya there are 12 Positive Cases and one loss of life.
The Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya in a statement issued today said that it is vital, that we educate on how to protect ourselves and our near and dear ones from this virus and therefore we must remember to wash our hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use masks regularly, have cough etiquette (cough only into handkerchief/ tissue/ covered elbow, turning head away to avoid coughing at any person nearby).
Avoid spitting in public places, maintain a minimum distance of one metre from each other and avoid direct contact and crowded areas as much as possible.
The statement also stated, all persons who have registered and are under home quarantine and if they are having symptoms of cough, fever and shortness of breath and loss of smell (anosmia) in elderly people and those with comorbid condition like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease, Asthma and Cancer are requested to call 108 or report to their respective headmen.
The Health and Family Welfare Department also requested headmen to report such information to their respective Deputy Commissioners stating that it is important that the coming Week i.e. until 28th of April is dealt with a lot of care and proactive approach to fight COVID-19.
