Govt not to allow politicization of the process for appointment of MSCW members
Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Friday assured not to allow politicization of the selection process for appointment of the chairperson and members of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW).
“We will ensure that we don’t allow any politicization of the process of selection,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
He informed that the search and select committee has been notified on July 24, in a very transparent manner by including eminent educationists as its members.
The panel is headed by the commissioner and secretary in-charge social welfare as chairperson. Secretary in-charge personnel and AR department, director of social welfare, deputy inspector general of police (DIG CID), director of health services are official members and principal of Lady Keane College, Shillong, principal of Women’s College Shillong and head of the department of social work, MLCU are the non-official members of the committee.
Lyngdoh said the committee has been asked to identify and recommend names of eminent women, who have rendered their services for cause of women, who have sufficient knowledge and experience in dealing with women’s issues and problems, as chairperson, vice chairperson and members of the MSCW as and when vacancies are notified.
The term of the search and select committee will be for a period of three years from the date of notification, he added.
