Govt notifies regulation to penalise COVID-19 protocol violators
The state government has notified the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 (Fifth Amendment) Regulations, 2020 which seeks to impose penalty on violators of COVID-19 protocols.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Regulation 20 (1) of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 the Government of Meghalaya is pleased to notify the procedure to be followed for imposition of fine for violation of the provision of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020…,” said a notification issued by the Secretary of Health department MN Nampui on Friday.
The notification said a fine of rupees five hundred for first offence and rupees one thousand for subsequent offences, shall be imposed on any person or institution or organisation, found violating any provisions of this regulations or any orders issued by the government.
“Any person or institution or organisation violating any provisions of these regulations shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section188 of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860) and shall be preceded accordingly,” it said.
Authorised persons at the State, District and Village level shall assist in reporting the violation of the provisions of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVD-19 Regulations, 2020 to the designated Officers, the notification also added.
