Govt taking steps to overcome disruption by Covid on education
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Tuesday said that the state government is taking steps to overcome the disruption to education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Replying to a query raised by Gambegre legislator Saleng A Sangma in the Assembly, Rymbui said that the government has taken many initiatives to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in government aided schools across the state by elucidating the matter as priority in the education policy.
Under this, he said that the government is setting up smart classrooms, ICT laboratories, science laboratories and capacity building programme of Maths and Science teachers under Supporting Human Capital Development Project in Meghalaya.
He informed that 731 schools having computers and 297 schools ahve computers with internet facility.
The total number of teachers registered on NISHTHA on DIKSHA for courses 1-18 for Classes I-XII – 24006 and 19372 teachers completed the course, he added.
