Govt to develop ‘Rock Garden’ in Meghalaya’s South West Khasi Hills
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured to develop the Rock Garden at Jashiar village in South West Khasi Hills District.
This was informed by the PHE Minister and Mawkyrwat legislator Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar on Thursday.
The Minister had accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to the district on Wednesday.
Tongkhar told reporters that the Chief Minister had appreciated the spirit of working together among the three village employment councils (VECs) for jointly having constructed a footbridge over Wah Rilang.
He said the VECs had requested the Chief Minister to sanction funds for tree plantation and also for development of the rock garden.
“The Chief Minister as a mark of giving recognition to them, assured to sanction schemes for the purpose,” the Minister said.
When asked, Tongkhar informed that around Rs 50 lakh would be required for the development of the Rock Garden.
According to him, the Chief Minister had also assured to send experts from the tourism department to accordingly prepare the estimates for the purpose.
