Govt to do away with home isolation of COVID-19 patients: Tynsong
The state government is considering doing away with the home isolation of COVID-19 patients after there has been no respite from the surge in the number of cases despite imposing a total lockdown and other containment measures.
Responding to a query on the issue during a news conference held on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has admitted that the intention of the government is to do away with the home isolation of COVID-19 patients.
He also informed that the state government has decided to create more corona care centres for isolation of positive cases.
“Right now the focus of the government is to have as many corona care centres as much as possible as these people who are under home isolation, if we have enough space we will take them out and bring them to the corona care centres,” Tynsong said.
Stating that the government is still working out on this regard, the deputy CM said, “We are ramping up this issue very seriously and once we are able to create the corona care centres, I am sure those positive cases who wish, can be shifted to the corona care centres.”
Asked, the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said as of now the bed occupancy in the state is 90 percent but the government already has a full back up plan.
“We are setting up a COVID hospital in Umsawli. We have also got many corona care centre beds so all these patients who are on the way to recovery will be transferred from the hospitals (if it comes to that stage) to the corona care centres and to the covid hospital in Umsawli,” he said.
“…once we ramp up completely as a covid hospital, then that will be the main covid hospital,” Dr War added.
