Govt to examine demand for creation of Laskein civil sub-division: Rymbui

The state government is examining the demand for creation of Laskein civil sub-division in West Jaintia Hills district.

Replying to a call attention moved by UDP legislator Nujorki Sungoh in the Assembly on Monday, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said a memorandum from the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and other social organizations for creation of civil sub-division under Laskein C&RD Block has been received by the state government.

He said civil sub-divisions have been created in the past for public convenience depending upon their distance from the district headquarters, availability of public facilities, population, level of development etc.

Rymbui however said there were also sub-divisions previously created where infrastructure etc is still lacking because of financial constraints.

The minister further informed that the views of the concerned government departments will be sought so that the government can examine the matter in detail.

“Therefore, the state government is examining all aspects of the matter so that a viable decision can be taken,” he added.
