Govt to function with only five keys departments to fight COVID-19

With Lockdown in place in East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya Government on Wednesday has decided to function with only five keys departments to fight COVID-19 in the state.

As per the notification issued by Secretary in charge Personnel & A.R (A) department, CVD Diengdoh, IAS said that during the period of lockdown in the Shillong Urban Agglomeration that is effective from 5th May, 2021 (8 pm) to 10th May, 2021 (5 AM) only the following Departments in the Meghalaya Secretariat shall function at full strength or as may be decided by the Administrative Heads (Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary).

1. Health and Family Welfare Department
2. Home (Political) Department
3. Food & Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department
4. Information and Public Relations Department
5. Revenue and Disaster Management Department

All officers at the rank of Commissioner and Secretary and above in any other Department shall attend office in the Meghalaya Secretariat.

In another notification, only four directorates shall function in full strength which includes, all directorates under Directorate of Health Services, Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Directorate of Information & Public Relations and the office of Director General of Police.
