Govt to inaugurate first of its kind diagnostic centre next year
The first of its kind state-of-the-art diagnostic centre constructed at the premises of the Pasteur Institute, Shillong is all set to be inaugurated next year.
This was informed by the Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek after conducting an inspection of the project on Wednesday.
Hek told reporters that the diagnostic centre will be one of the major projects to be completed in 2022 which will coincide with the celebration of the 50th year of Meghalaya statehood.
“Almost 80 percent of the work has been completed. We are ready to make it functional but we could not because of the present COVID-19 situation in the state,” he said.
The minister said many machines have already been installed by the Suraksha Specialty Diagnostics adding they are ready for conducting over 700 kinds of testing.
According to officials, the total project cost is Rs 50 crore.
