Govt to re-examine salary hike for 4th teachers
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday said the department will re-examine the feasibility of the request to enhance salary of the 4th teachers in the SSA schools.
He was replying to a call attention notice tabled by Mawsynram legislator Himalaya M Shangpliang in the Assembly regarding the SSA 4th teachers meeting the chief minister over hike in salary.
“In the light of the proposal and petition of the 4th teachers, the department will re-examine the feasibility of the request in accordance with the budget availability and other consideration on financial constraints that the department is presently facing,” Rymbui said.
He said the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan has a norm that it can support only two teachers for SSA lower primary and 3 teachers for SSA upper primary, any additional appointment of teachers shall be borne by the state government.
Rymbui also pointed out that in 2016-17 the Plan Approval Board (PAB), Ministry of Education has approved the state proposal to enhance the salary of SSA UP school teachers from Rs 9,900 to Rs 20,493 per month.
In continuing with the SSA enhancement, the Directorate of School Education & Literacy had also proposed enhancement for the 4th teacher under adhoc upper primary school teachers with effect from January 2017.
The proposal was followed up and the same is under consideration to enhance the salary, he added.
