Govt to set up state-of-the-art veterinary hospital at Upper Shillong: Hek

Minister in-charge Animal Husbandry & Veterinary AL Hek on Friday informed that the government will take it on priority to set up a state-of-the-art Veterinary hospital at Upper Shillong.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said that there have two-three proposals sent to the planning department on the matter.
“The planning department has asked some queries and we have fulfilled all the queries and in this last budget session held recently, it was clearly mentioned that state-of-the-art veterinary hospital is coming up at Upper Shillong. Therefore, it has been already written in the budget speech so it has to be taken on priority,” he added.
Asked on the issue of cattle smuggling, the minister said he also came across two-three cases in Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills where BSF had seized illegal cattle and handed them over to the police.
He however said that people are doing business and how can we stop them.
“Of course, I am not denying that fact but that completely depend on the traders as traders are doing all of those things that is why police and BSF are vigilant to look into this,” he added.
