Govt to soon finalise additional land for expansion of Umroi airport: Dhar
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Wednesday said the government is serious about expanding the Umroi airport.
“We really want to expand the airport. I had conducted a meeting last month with officials of the airport authority and civil aviation ministry. The meeting was very clear. We want to move forward with the expansion,” Dhar told reporters.
Asked, the deputy chief minister said, “There are certain things we need to get exemption. If we get green signal from the government, we will decide how much additional land is required. So more or less 16-17 acres of land will be required if the plan is through.”
“We will start acquiring additional land after we take a final call in a meeting to be held with the civil aviation ministry,” he added.
On the alleged rampang construction of houses near the airport, Dhar said if required, we will evict them and pay compensation.
