Govt to spend Rs 300 cr for improving school infrastructure
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said Rs 300 crore will be spent in the next three years for improving the infrastructures of lower primary schools across the state.
Replying to the debate on No-confidence motion in the Assembly, Sangma said over 200 lower primary schools will be improved every year and a budget of Rs 300 crore has been earmarked for the next three years.
According to him, 70 percent of the 2,500 elementary schools do not have proper infrastructures.
He said the government has also approved setting up of 9 community colleges adding that 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) have also been sanctioned for the state.
Meanwhile, the chief minister further informed that the government will also be spending Rs 7 crore for giving 1,000 units to returnees to start their businesses in the state.
