Govt to take all stakeholders on board before deciding on railway projects: Dhar
Deputy Chief Minister incharge Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday said the state government is not abandoning the proposed implementation of railway projects in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said, “(We have) not abandoned it. We are yet to take a call (because) first of all, we will try to take everybody – all stakeholders – on board.”
“When everybody is on board then only we will take a call as a government,” he added.
Recently, the Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF) has asserted the need for the state government to come up with a long term policy to promote the local tourism industry even as it appeal to the Centre to consider establishing a high speed luxury rail network to reduce the travel time from Guwahati to Shillong.
Asked about the idea of having a luxury rail network, Dhar said the proposal (of the MTDC) is good, it is not bad.
“(However), these things fall under the tourism department. Maybe I will have to get the inputs from the tourism department on what is the talk as of now as it is not my department, it is the tourism sector,” he added.
