Govt to take up ILP, other issues with Shah: CM
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the government has sought an appointment with the union home minister Amit Shah for discussion on the various issues including the inner line permit (ILP).
“Yes, we have sent a request. At a personal level when I was in the NDA meeting last time I have discussed with union home minister and told him that I would to come with my cabinet and meet him on large number of issues regarding the state and during that visit whenever he give the time to us definitely we will raise other issues also including the ILP issue,” Sangma told reporters.
On the uniform civil code (UCC), Sangma said that there is no reason to talk on the UCC since they have not seen the draft Bill.
“It is very complicated, it is very sensitive and obviously how it will be brought out in what forms it will be brought up we don’t know. So till it is not brought out I think it will be difficult for me to make any comment and I think there is no reason for us to talk,” he said.
“So once the draft is out, if it is out then we can sit down and maybe we can discuss on which part or which para it is acceptable or not and what should we do. Till that time I think there is no need to discuss this but as I mentioned from day one as a concept it is very complicated and obviously India is a very diverse nation,” he added.
