Govt warns action against false allegations: DHS
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War on Tuesday categorically refuted the allegations that the state government and the health department are increasing the number of COVID-19 positive cases in order to get more funds from the Centre.
“This is totally wrong and utter nonsense. This is being done to hoodwink the citizens of the state and this is being denied totally by me as there is no such thing that the more positive cases, the more funds we will get,” Dr War told reporters.
He said the allegation has put a big question on the health scenario in the state and the sincerity of the health workers, who are working day and night to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The senior medical officer was reacting to a letter to the editor published in one of the dailies in the state.
Stating that the allegation is being made to tarnish the image of the government, Dr War said, “We don’t get money from increasing the number of positive cases.”
He also appealed to all concerned to refrain from making such false allegations. “We also urge the citizens not to listen to such allegations,” he said.
Asked, the Director of Health Services said any allegation that comes after this appeal, the epidemic act will follow. “From now on we will react to all these allegations and we will not take it lying down,” he warned.
