Govt warns against black marketing of hand sanitizers
The Government of Meghalaya has issued direction that any person found hoarding, black-marketing or selling at a price higher than the maximum retail price of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers shall be punishable under Section 3 of the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980. This was informed by the Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.
This is in pursuance to the order of the Government of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to regulate the production, quality, distribution, logistics of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers (for COVID 19 management).
This notification shall remain in force for a period upto 30th June, 2020.
