Govt’s top priority was to invest in education sector: CM
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said that Govt’s top priority was to invest in education sector.
He said that Govt is facing the challenge to overhaul education sector but the State Govt is committed to upscale the educational infrastructure and learning facilities in the State.
He told that Govt has rolled out a programme to create better educational facilities across the State.
He said that education sector cannot be transformed overnight but the Govt is working to create a turnaround.
Inaugurating the St Anne’s School at remote Garagre village in South West Garo Hills, he lauded the effort and commitment of the missionaries to transform educational facilities in the State.
He also announced to sanction solar light facilities and computer for the school located along the international border with Bangladesh.
He inaugurated the new building of the St Anne’s School, Garagre in South West Garo Hills in the presence of Bishop of Tura Rt. Rev. Andrew R Marak an md Auxiliary Bishop Jose CJ.
The children of the school presented various cultural and dance numbers and enthralled the gathering.
A celebratory mood was witnessed at the venue, where different speakers lauded the missionaries for their hardwork to ensure that the school reaches its milestone today.
The school was funded by various doners with most part of the contribution coming from teenagers from Germany, who collected funds singing Christmas carols.
Bishop Jose thanked Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Govt of Meghalaya for its continued support to missionaries to further the growth of education in the state.
Speaking on the occasion Bishop of Tura Rt Rev Andrew R Marak reminded the gathering of the words of Late Purno A Sangma, who said that planting humans is the most precious investment that we can make. Bishop Marak said that education is very important for a society to grow and the missionaries in Garo Hills will continue to reach to the nook and corner of the region to impart quality education.
