Guv to soon take a call on Ordinance, KHADC issue
SHILLONG: Governor, Tathagata Roy on Wednesday assured to soon take a call on the two issues related to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 and the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Roy informed this after meeting a delegation of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government led by chief minister Conrad K Sangma at the Raj Bhavan here.
“During the meeting, we had threadbare discussion on the ordinance and the KHADC. Further action I should take after mature consideration,” Roy told reporters.
Sangma, who was accompanied by deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and cabinet minister, has urged the governor to grant assent to the ordinance and to invoke administrator’s rule in the KHADC.
When asked how long it will take for him to take a decision on these matters, the governor however said that he will not be able to say how long it would take.
According to him, these are not petty matters and are important matters which require great deliberation.
CM made a plea that time is of the essence. “I will have due regards to his words and I will do it as early as possible,” he said.
When asked about the concern he raised during the discussion, he said that he is very concern about these two issues.
When asked about the growing for implementation of ILP in the State, he said that it is for the Government to answer this question. “ILP is a matter to be decided by the Central Government. Like CAB for instance under the constitution 7 Schedule Union List and Entry no 17 citizenship is a matter of the Union Government. So these are thing which you have to ask the Government of India,” he said.
